Millar Chiropractic Clinic ^TM is a proud member of the UAB (University of Alabama Birmingham), Department of Neurosurgery, Chiropractic Care Team.  Our doctors have attended symposium training by UAB Neurosurgeons on practice guidelines including History taking, Physical examination, Imaging (X-rays, MRIs, CTs and Mylograms and Discograms), Conditions and Differential Diagnosis, Available Treatments, and Research. Over the years, neurosurgeons of the UAB Division of Neurosurgery have practiced with us in our clinics seeing patients side by side with our doctors, treating cases and referring patients back and forth. The UAB Neurosurgeons that practice with us trust us to provide the UAB Division of Neurosurgery Standard of Care and Chiropractic Excellence. Our Doctors often do the work up (order and preform tests) for the Neurosurgeons. Together we have an integrated practice treating many patients before and after surgery.  

Research and the UAB Neurosurgeons will tell you that only 5% of all herniated and bulging disc cases need surgery. So 95% of all herniated and bulging disc cases need conservative treatment such as the care provided by Millar Chiropractic Clinic. Working on thousands of herniated and bulging disc cases has taught us much. Frankly it all comes down to experience and know-how. We understand what to treat and perhaps more importantly what not to treat. Our chiropractors understand that every patient does NOT get a manual chiropractic adjustment. In fact most herniated and bulging disc patients are mildly adjusted with Activator or Disc Pump instruments. We treat our cases and the cases referred by UAB Division of Neurosurgery with the same Chiropractic Excellence.   

We work with medical doctors every day. We will also try to work with your medical doctors, giving you continued care from doctors you already know.  We are also affiliated with Millar MultiMedical, LLC., in Huntsville Alabama.  This is a multidisciplined integrated group practice of Medical Doctors, Osteopathic Physicians, and Physical Therapists.  Often we co-manage severe cases with the Medical Doctors of our sister company, Millar MultiMedical, LLC.  We find the the combination of conservative chiropractic care combined with the traditional medical approach yields incredible results. 

Because of our work with UAB Neurosurgery, all of our Chiropractors specialize in the non-surgical treatment of bulging, prolapsed, and herniated discs, and the radiating pain (usually arm or leg) that often accompanies disc problems. We consider the treatment of degenerative disc disease, degenerative facet problems, sacroiliitis, and arthritis of the spine our "bread and butter" so to speak. We utilize DTS Decompression Traction Systems, The Disc Pump, Cox Flexion Distraction, Cold Laser, and other modalities including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, diathermy along with rehabilitation and core stabilization physical therapy exercises in the treatment of disc related cases.

Over the past 14 years, we have tried to bring Chiropractic Excellence and the Wellness Lifestyle to the forefront of discussion in our area by starting the MEDLINE and BACKtalk TV shows on ABC WAAY TV Channel 31. These TV shows allowed Chiropractors and Medical Doctors to publicly discuss the benefits and pitfalls or side effects of Chiropractic vs Medical approach to health problems.
